The carving on this table is not decorative in the modern sense — it's structural to the identity of the piece.
The apron panels, drawer fronts, and stool frames carry dense relief carving in a traditional Chinese pattern — clouds, geometric fretwork, the kind of motifs that have appeared on hardwood furniture for centuries because they held meaning before they held aesthetic value. The warm reddish-brown wood grain beneath the carving reads clearly through the finish, which sits high-gloss and even across all surfaces. This is furniture that was meant to be seen up close.
The tea function is built in. The tabletop has a recessed stainless steel drainage tray beneath a carved lattice panel — the 茶 (tea) character is worked into the fretwork — that catches rinse water and waste tea during a session. The tray slides out for emptying. The drawers below the table surface provide storage for tea tools, caddies, or linens without adding anything external to the table.
Two styles available. Style A pairs the table with a horseshoe-back armchair — the classic Chinese official's chair, the version with the continuous curved top rail and rounded arms. Style B pairs with smaller stools in the same carved frame as the table. Both stools and chair share the carved apron detail that ties the seating to the table.
