This isn't a lion. It's not quite a dragon either. The kylin is its own thing β a creature from Chinese mythology that shows up where good fortune is close behind. On a tea tray, it's been a staple for centuries. This version earns its place.
The sculpt is dense with detail: a full mane that fans out around the face, scaled body armor across the back and legs, round expressive eyes that somehow manage to look both fierce and friendly at once. In the reddish-brown zisha clay, the texture catches the light in a way that makes the fur and scales read as genuinely tactile. The darker version, in deep charcoal clay, reads as more formal β same character, different weight.
Size: 3.86" L Γ 1.81" W Γ 2.56" H. Compact enough to sit on a tray without dominating it, substantial enough to hold its own next to a full-size teapot.
Like all zisha tea pets, this one is meant to be used, not just displayed. Rinse it with your leftover tea or hot water after each session. The clay absorbs slowly, and over months the surface deepens in color and picks up a quiet sheen β a patina that only comes from actual use.
