Ru ware has a short list of defining qualities. The glaze is at the top of it.
The celadon surface — a soft, bluish-green that shifts toward jade or rain-washed sky depending on the light — is achieved through a specific combination of clay body and firing process that Ru kilns have been refining since the Song Dynasty. The result is a translucent glaze that seems to glow from within rather than reflect from the surface. Up close, the fine crackle network visible in the glaze is not imperfection — it's the signature. No two pieces crack the same way.
The teapot. 210ml capacity — the right size for one or two people brewing gongfu-style, with enough volume for multiple short steeps without refilling. The side handle is walnut wood, which stays cool during pouring and provides a grip that feels warmer in the hand than ceramic or metal. The 360° rotating infuser sits inside the teapot body: rotate it to open for leaf loading, rotate back to lock for steeping, rotate again to release the brewed tea cleanly. No separate filter, no fiddling, no loose leaves in the cup.
What's in the set. A 210ml Ru ware teapot with rotating infuser and walnut handle, two 40ml tea cups, a carry bag (13 cm × 35 cm), and a tea towel. The whole set packs into the bag and travels without issue — desk, hotel room, overnight bag, carry-on.
40ml cups. Small by design. At gongfu scale, 40ml is the right size — you finish each pour in two or three sips, which is how this style of brewing is meant to work. The celadon glaze on the cups matches the teapot throughout.
This is a set that doesn't compromise on the material to hit a travel price point. The Ru ware glaze, the walnut handle, the rotating mechanism — all three are details that belong on a serious tea table. That they happen to fit in a 13cm bag is the point.
Crackle glaze pattern is unique to each piece. Minor glaze tone variation is natural to Ru ware.
