There's a version of a tea set that tries to impress you immediately. This isn't it.
The hammered texture on the teapot body takes a moment to register β dark, dense clay with a surface that looks like it was worked by hand one section at a time, which it was. The rattan-wrapped lifting handle adds the only soft material in an otherwise entirely rough-clay composition. The tray it all sits on has the same irregular, organic edge as the teapot β not shaped to a mold, shaped to a feeling.
