Most tea sets ask you to be careful around them. This one doesn't.
The aesthetic here is deliberate roughness β unglazed sandy stoneware, irregular edges, surfaces that look like they were pulled from the earth and left mostly alone. The teapot sits elevated on a raw clay stand. The cups are small and uneven in the way that handmade things are. The tray has the organic, eroded shape of a river stone. Nothing is perfectly symmetrical, and that's precisely the point.
What's in the set. The full collection includes a teapot with stand, multiple tea cups with calligraphy-inscribed saucers, a celadon-lined water vessel, a blue-and-white lidded container, a wooden tool holder with bamboo tea tools, and a stone-shaped display tray with white pebbles and a small planted tree. It's less a tea set and more a complete scene β the kind of setup that makes the corner of a room feel like somewhere worth sitting.
The interior of the cups shows a soft celadon green glaze, which creates a quiet contrast against the raw exterior. When tea is poured, the color comes through the glaze and the whole cup warms up in a way that a plain white cup never quite does.
The calligraphy on the saucers. Each saucer carries a single Chinese character in brushwork β the kind of detail that rewards slowing down. It's not decoration for decoration's sake. It's a reminder that this style of tea drinking has always been tied to a certain way of paying attention.
This set works for someone setting up their first serious tea space, and it works just as well for someone who's been doing gongfu cha for years and wants something that feels less manufactured.
Handmade. Variations in texture, glaze tone, and form are expected and intentional.
